Louise & Steve’s Wedding // Farnham House Hotel // Farnham
2017 , March 4, 2017
As a Hampshire wedding photographer I like to keep in touch with all my couples, so much so that they feel comfortable enough to contact me with any questions/issues/or just for a chat…so one week before Louise & *Gilden’s wedding I got a phone call from Gilden explaining that Louise had had an accident, resulting in a broken ankle! Louise’s spirit was not dampened and, whilst we couldn’t mend Louise’s ankle before her big day, we made sure that we would keep as much to the plan as possible…with a little help from the groomsmen on the day, it worked rather well. Louise totally rocked her gorgeous wedding gown with a sparkly bright pink plaster cast. (*the name Steve is known by)
For the wedding preparations, Louise & her two beautiful bridesmaids got ready at the wedding venue, Farnham House Hotel. This is such a stunning wedding location, with picturesque grounds including a garden pavilion, a lake and furthermore (although maybe not on your wedding day…) a tennis court! The charming exterior of the hotel is only matched by the character of the interior which is set just one mile from Farnham town centre, also with the beautiful five acres of grounds, you would feel as though you are in the middle of the countryside!
Louise & Gilden’s love story began as they had been friends for many years and had lots of shared friends, therefore, they kept bumping into each other at parties. They officially became a couple in March 2012 when they went away to Brighton for the weekend.
In December 2013 they were overjoyed to discover they were expecting a baby. In the June, Gilden took Louise away to Oakley Court Hotel in Windsor for a mini break before the baby came along. It’s a beautiful hotel set in stunning grounds. They went for a walk by the river & all of a sudden Gilden went down on bended knee and asked her to marry him. Once she had stopped crying tears of joy she accepted & he gave her a beautiful sapphire & diamond engagement ring. How very romantic!
The weather on their wedding day was a mixture of sunshine & showers, however, nothing discouraged the atmosphere nor the constant laughter throughout the whole day! Louise & Gilden have wonderful friends & family who made Arron & I feel very welcome.
The bridesmaid duties were carried out by Louise’s two lovely friends, Jean & Michelle. And the Groomsmen were Gilden’s long time friends Neil (aka Harry), Nicky & Tony.
Louise’s proud parents, David & Georgette were simply lovely. With the Father-of-the-Bride’s speech bringing tears of laughter to everyone’s eyes. David’s delivery was spot on, so much so that Arron & I started laughing & nearly forgot why we were there!!
The whole day went so well, everyone had such a great time. So I asked the newlyweds a few questions:
Which wedding gown did you choose? And where did you get it?:
“one of my closest friends Vanessa owns a wedding dress shop in Swansea – www.cariadbridal.co.uk – so I didn’t hesitate to visit Wales to get my dress from her and I tried on loads of dresses but the very last dress I tried on was ‘the one’. It’s a ballgown style by Allure Bridals. Vanessa & I worked very closely together to make it ‘my’ dress so we added lacy sparkly sleeves and had lots of crystals added to the bodice. The most beautiful part of the dress was the ‘secret sparkle’ underskirt that Vanessa suggested I have. It was breathtaking”
What jewellery, shoes and other bits did you wear? And from where?:
“I did have an amazing pair of black sparkly shoes from Rainbow Club, but sadly, due to my broken ankle, I couldn’t wear them. I decided to bling up a converse shoe with lots of crystals. As the dress was quite blingy & sparkly I didn’t need much jewellery so I wore the diamond earrings & necklace that Gilden bought me for Christmas a few years ago. My friend Candice lent me her Gucci watch”
What did your partner wear? And from where?:
“Gilden, his best men, and Father of the Bride wore a stunning three piece suit from Black Tie in Crowthorne. They all looked very handsome”
Who did your hair & makeup?:
“the very, very talented Sarah Pearce did my hair and make-up. She is so much fun & had me laughing while she was getting me ready. She made me look amazing!”
Who did your flowers & cake? And who styled your venue?:
“Sarah Jane Croke from The Pottery Gift House decorated the venue & did all the flowers. She absolutely transformed the venue. It was stunning. I got the wedding cake from M&S & my lovely friend Hannah decorated it. It was very sparkly!”
How many guests attended your day/and evening?:
“we had 50 days guests and an extra 25 in the evening”
What was your wedding song/playlist?:
“I walked down the aisle to Annie’s song by John Denver and as soon as I heard it I cried! Followed by our first dance which was God Only Knows by the Beach Boys consequently I cried during our first dance too! It’s a very special song to us”
Your honeymoon destination?:
“we were supposed to fly to Dubai & go on a cruise…but due to my broken ankle, I can’t fly. So, we went to Bath for a couple of days which was just lovely. We have postponed our honeymoon for later in the year when I am back to 100%”
Your most memorable moment from your wedding day?:
Louise – “walking down the aisle & seeing Gilden. I didn’t care about anyone else in the room I just wanted to fall into his arms. It was so emotional”
Gilden – “dancing to the last song – One Day like this by Elbow – with all of our family & friends around us in a circle singing & cheering us on. Louise managed to do this without her crutches, I felt so proud and felt so much love from everybody”
Do you have a ‘top tip’ for other couples?:
“Don’t sweat the small stuff, it is really NOT important. I broke my leg a WEEK before the wedding. The most important thing was just to get married. Nothing else was mattered”
Congratulations to you Louise & Steve, we had such a great time with your family and friends ~ we wish you many years of health, happiness and lots of laughter together! ❤️
