Katie & Craig’s Wedding Blog // Farnham House Hotel // Farnham

2017 , August 18, 2017

Katie & Craig were married at Farnham House Hotel Wedding Venue on a gloriously sunny Friday in August.

I met up with Katie & her bridesmaids in a suite at Farnham House Hotel Wedding Venue, whilst Arron (my hubby & second shooter) met with Craig & his best men at his hairdressers – MessHeads Hair Design. Craig always has his hair styled by Joe Slater, the owner of MessHeads Hair Design, and Joe was happy to welcome Craig on his wedding morning!

Meanwhile, in the bridal suite, it was a hive of activity! With three bridesmaids, three flower girls and a page boy…it was busy at times! The bridesmaids were dressed in a gorgeous pillar box red (there is a footie theme to the wedding so the red fits in perfectly!), whilst the flower girls wore a white dress with red petals in the skirt. And last but not least, the young page boy wore a white shirt, grey shorts, and red braces. He looked very dapper!

Farnham House Hotel Wedding Venue is beautiful, so Katie & Craig arranged an outside ceremony. They were extremely lucky with the weather as the blue skies of the morning turned into dark clouds in the afternoon. Luckily the only time it rained all day (and it rained cats & dogs!) was after the ceremony during the wedding breakfast (which was inside).

It was such a beautiful day, Katie & Craig’s family and friends made us feel like part of their day, and we had the very best of times! Thank you, both.

I asked the newlyweds a few questions about their day, this is their own story in their own words…

How did you meet? How did it all begin?:

“It wasn’t romantic at all! We were teenagers and met through mutual friends then became really good friends and things progressed from there. We spent about a year being ‘friends with benefits’ and hiding our feelings for each other from everybody else until I turned around and gave Craig the ultimatum…a relationship or this couldn’t go on anymore and that was that!”

Tell me a little about your engagement story?:

“We were in Tenerife with our best friends, on the first evening we went out for a walk, after spending the day doing nothing by the pool! Craig led the way as he had been out ‘to the shop’ during the day but he had secretly actually been out to find the perfect spot to pop the question. We came to a little rocky/volcanic beach and we were walking along when I turned around and Craig was on one knee, he then asks me to marry him and our best friends started cheering because they had been spying on us the whole time knowing what Craig’s plans were”

Which wedding gown did you choose? And where did you get it?:

“A wedding ball gown call Heaven from Berketex Bride

What jewellery, shoes and other bits did you wear? And from where?:

“My Necklace and earrings were love knots, they were a gift from my Mum for my birthday in February and she passed away at the end of June before the wedding so they were super special! My shoes were from New Look, I needed a 2.5-inch heel and struggled so much to find this…except for in New Look! My Tiara was my ‘something borrowed’ and was the tiara that my cousin wore for her wedding 2 years ago”

What did your partner wear? And from where?:

“He wore a grey suit, white shirt, and waistcoat with a red cravat all from Anthony Hirewear in Godalming”

Who did your hair & makeup?:

“Emma Moffat- Hair

Estee Lauder make up artist called Emma – Makeup”

Who did your flowers & cake? And who styled your venue?:

“Flowers were by a lady called Bex who owns her own company called Blush Floral

“Cake was created by Sarah-Mary Gale

“Venue was styled by a company that they hire”

How many guests attended your day/and evening?:

What was your wedding song/playlist?:

Ed Sheeran – Perfect

Your honeymoon destination?:

Meedhupparu resort island – The Maldives!”

Your most memorable moment of your wedding day?:

“The balloons that we let go in memory of lost loved ones”

Do you have a ‘top tip’ for other couples?:

“The day goes so quickly and it’s over quicker than you can ever imagine it will be. Make sure you get plenty of rest the night before because as much as it’s the best day of your lives it is also an exhausting one. Treasure each moment on your big day and relax, everything has a way of falling to place perfectly”

Congratulations to you both, wishing you many years of health & happiness together ❤️
